  • DOONEY & BOURKE MACY'S HERALD SQUARE SHOP MANAGER (New York, NY)

    POSITION OBJECTIVE
    This position is responsible for achieving sales objectives, analyzing and developing business, building highly motivated teams and building strong relationships with the Macy's and Dooney and Bourke employees. Responsible for overall management of staff, floor coverage, merchandising, customer service for the Dooney and Bourke department in HS. Be a brand ambassador between Dooney and Bourke and the Macy's Inc. teams.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS
    Minimum 5 to 7 years management experience in accessories. Department store experiences a plus. Strong analytical skills, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, peers and management.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
      Sales/Financial:
    • Achieve the store's sales and profit budgets through consistent sales motivation and expense control.
    • Achieve gross margin and markdown goals by managing inventory productivity.
    • Achieve shrinkage goals by insuring proper sales coverage and customer service.
    • Achieve the store's payroll budget goals through effective staffing and sales productivity.

    • Customer Service:
    • Model exemplary selling techniques and customer service.
    • Outstanding customer service is a priority.
    • Maintain adequate sales floor coverage.
    • Work with business partners to develop action plans to correct negative trends and achieve goals.

    • Personnel Development:
    • Participate in the recruiting, training, supervising, and scheduling of all store associates.
    • Ensure that staff is trained in all aspects of their job responsibilities including customer service, company history, product knowledge, and basic store operations.

    • Work with the department store management to organize regular store meetings to communicate information regarding the brand, deliveries and special events.
    • Track and ensure that SPH (sales per hour) and UPT (units per transaction) goals are met.

    • Merchandising/Inventory Control:
    • Ensure that all product presentation is maintained to company standards.
    • Continual analysis of stock and sales productivity to effectively manage inventory levels, transfers and re-orders.
    • Ensure that all visual and merchandising directives are implemented according to company standards.
    • Monitor and ensure timely delivery of merchandise to the store and sales floor.
    • Work with store staff to analyze product sales performance and inventory needs.
    • Obtain and review reports to analyze statistics for sales performance, stock needs and maintaining appropriate product and size ranges.
    • Ensure in store presentations are brand appropriate and current.
    • Monitor the cleanliness and organization of store.

    • Marketing:
    • Develop, schedule and lead seminars, trunk shows and training sessions.
    • Monitor and report on industry competitors and commerce.

    • Operations:
    • Remain flexible with schedule to work weekdays or weekends as needed for coverage.
    • Supervise the enforcement of company cash handling, loss prevention, store funds, and department store procedures.
    • Ensure all administrative responsibilities are completed promptly and accurately.
    • Identify and discuss operational issues/concerns with supervisor.
    • Maintain an efficient and organized in-store communication system.
    • Perform other duties as directed by supervisor and the home office.
    • Ensure staff maintains a high level of professionalism, is well groomed, and is in corporate dress code while scheduled and on the sales floor.

    • Loss Prevention:
    • Achieve store inventory shrink budgets.
    • Regularly utilize store inventory audits to ensure consistent inventory control.

    • Department Maintenance:
    • Maintain a consistently clean and well-maintained sales floor and stock room.
    • Utilize maintenance checklists regularly to ensure consistency of the store's cleanliness.

    • Remain available and flexible to assist with any company assignments.
