2021 Trend Report: Western Never Went Away

We’re releasing our Western Collection for Spring 2021 soon! To prepare for the launch, we took a walk down memory lane.

For as long as we can remember, Western style has always been a huge source of inspiration for us. There’s something about those wild landscapes and equestrian vibe that makes us feel at home.

We found these stunning images from a photoshoot we held in Jackson Hole, one of our favorite mountain towns. We’d flown out west to Wyoming a few times for photoshoots. Our first trip was in the mid-nineties to showcase our equestrian collections, pictured in this post. But we also went out there a second time in 2016.

That western aesthetic will never go out of style!

Longtime fans know that our brand has deep roots in the equestrian aesthetic. Some of the first handbags we launched in the early eighties were crafted from crisp bridle leather. Bridle leather has been the go-to leather for the equestrian trade. It’s known for being super durable and has an ultra-smooth feel with a waxy look.

Our bridle leather saddle bags and messengers were finished with a signature leather flap closure. It’s the same style of closure we’re using for our upcoming Western Collection.

Western Collection for Spring 2021 is launching by the end of this month on dooney.com. It’s easy to pick out the details in this collection that are inspired by our equestrian styles from our archives. There are horseshoes adorned with 18K gold studs from Italy. Contrast stitching, inspired by medallion patterns, run throughout this incredibly rich leather. A leather logo patch with a faded finish that gives it a worn-in feel.
