My sister Claudia became a mom when her little one joined this world over the holidays last year. Claudia works at a tech startup in Brooklyn, and also calls Brooklyn home. She’s got a great eye for style so while she is not hard to buy for, I like to keep my gift search pretty wide, narrowing it down as I go. Here are some of the ideas I am exploring that combine both style and function.
I love the look of a diaper/parent’s bag that doesn’t look like a diaper bag at first glance. The Nylon Flap Backpack is so chic, it can manage diaper and snack duty while also allowing my sister to be hands-free.
Also in the lightweight nylon family is the Wayfarer Tote. The sleek Italian nylon can be cleaned easily with a bit of soapy water on a damp cloth. As a bonus, the cotton lining of this bag can be cleaned in the same way! The nylon itself has a very smooth and silky hand-feel, so my sister is getting the best of both worlds in this tote - ease of wear in a sleek and a sophisticated bag.
When my sister is strolling her sweet daughter around Brooklyn, she likes to carry a crossbody as her personal handbag so she can be hands-free for bottles and snuggles. She always goes for streamlined looks so I know she'll go nuts for the sleek silhouette of this Saffiano Crossbody.
On this first Mother’s Day for my lovely sister, I am excited to gift her something that is functional, comfortable, and makes her feel like the special person (and mom) that she is!
